I wrote Citizen You out of pure frustration. While running an advocacy agency in Portland I became disillusioned by how backwards and ineffectual our approach towards our most vulnerable truly was. Where I thought I would find an army of saintly people to work with; I only found corruption, bureaucracy and a culture of passing the buck at every turn. As well as the apathy of our own punk rock scenes at the time.
