about

This song is a conversation between a pair of close siblings living through abuse at the hands of a parent or guardian. The older sibling explains to the younger their plan to kill the abuser and how they'll be separated once the deed is done.

lyrics

This is where I’ll take a scar, for mine
Right here inside the doorway
His sickness undefined may take our lives tonight
Well I’ve hid it for the last time... so

Stay Here
In the darkness, One more night I swear
No matter what you hear don’t come downstairs
Don’t You Fear
The officers’ lights, they’re just ships from shore
Sending you to a world outside this cell
Outside this cell

Outside this cell they feel no need to feed upon you when you’re weak
No one’s entitled to another
Someone’ll have to see the bruises, catch that stutter in your voice
I tried but they might fix just what he broke inside, until then

Stay Here
In the darkness, One more night I swear
No matter what you hear don’t come downstairs
Don’t You Fear
The officers’ lights, They’re just ships from Shore
Sending you to a world outside this cell

Guide my hand, justice be done
I will hold the ground for both of us, you’ll see
The blood and what it means
In having to go on without me
‘Cause no one
Is coming ‘till they see what I’ve done

Stay Here
In the darkness, One more night I swear
No matter what you hear don’t come downstairs
Don’t You Fear
The officers’ lights, They’re just ships from Shore
Sending you to a world outside the cell
